We are both working moms that completely understand the daily struggle of trying to juggle being the best mom you can be while also excelling in the professional world. Kristen and I have been working in public schools for over fifteen years. I am a school psychologist and Kristen is a social worker. We were lucky enough to work together on the same Child Study Team for a few years. We both love working with children and watching them grow to reach their goals. We completely love the work we do and are so grateful for the families we have met along the way. But to be completely honest- mom guilt is definitely a real thing and it hurts tremendously. So even though we would not trade our professions for anything in the world we are also trying to figure out the delicate balance of being a working parent and all that comes along with that. But experiencing life like this as parents is what connects all of us and none of us are alone in our parenting dilemmas, struggles or meltdowns. That’s why we love working with and connecting with our families. It takes a village to raise a child and we are honored to be part of that village.

We have some new families joining us here at Success Street, LLC so we thought it would be nice to share with you all how we got here!

When life hands you lemons what else is there to do but to make lemonade. Success Street is our refreshing and delicious lemonade. We are proof that great things can be found in even some of the most dire of circumstances.

Kristen and I worked together on a Child Study Team in New Jersey and loved what we did. She was the social worker on our team and I was the school psychologist. We loved working with our students and families. And we loved coming to work every day and laughing together. All of that changed the moment we found out our positions were being dissolved and that our district would now use contracted consultants to fill our positions. This news was a shock to both of us to say the least. Kristen was home on maternity leave at the time taking care of her newborn baby and I was on medical leave recovering from a cancer diagnosis. How could this happen? We were tenured school employees with job security. Where do we go from here and how do we start over now?

And that is when Success Street was born. We saw this as an opportunity to use our experience and knowledge base to help more families that were in need of support. Although the decision to start our own business while also starting over seemed overwhelming at first, we forged ahead and created a business we are truly proud of. We are so lucky to work with such amazing families and to help parents and children create more balance and success in their lives on a daily basis. So even though life handed us some unexpected lemons, we would not trade the refreshing lemonade we made for anything in the world.
