With over 30 years of combined experience, Kristen and Melissa have worked with children and their families across a variety of settings providing mental health counseling, coaching and consulting services.
As a doctoral-level school social worker and a certified positive discipline parent trainer, Kristen has encountered the multifaceted impact a family’s social and emotional functioning can have on their discipline approach as well as the impact it has on a child’s behavioral needs.
As a school psychologist and board certified behavior analyst, Melissa is familiar with the impact that a child’s social emotional functioning can have on the behaviors they display within the classroom and at home.
However, the most important role both Kristen and Melissa have in life is that of being a parent. As parents they can understand the daily struggles we all face within our homes and within our family unit. They can relate to our attempts to juggle the day to day struggles life can throw at you while also trying to maintain a peaceful home environment. As a result, they are eager to share some tried and true strategies that can be helpful both in homes, at school. and at work. Kristen and Melissa create a judgment free environment where clients can share their experiences and seek support while learning new strategies to add to their toolbox.

Following training as a school psychologist, Melissa went on to pursue a Post-Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. As someone who is committed to helping children move toward independence and life-long learning, Melissa believes it is important to maintain a positive environment where children and families can reach their maximum potential and achieve their ultimate success. Melissa has a strong background in providing coaching and consulting services.
On a more personal note, Melissa is a happily married wife and also a proud mother to a vibrant little girl. Melissa and her husband are both in the field of education so they are aware of the importance of a child’s self-confidence and the role it plays in their success. As a parent Melissa can relate to the struggles that many families face within their home on a daily basis and as a behaviorist Melissa can help to provide them with some much warranted relief to their struggles.

Coaching emphasizes goal-setting, personal development, and achieving specific outcomes in areas like career, performance, or life skills. Coaches work with clients to create actionable plans and strategies to reach their objectives. Coaching is future-oriented, concentrating on where the client wants to go and how to get there. Coaches use techniques to motivate, inspire, and guide clients toward their goals.
Mental health counseling focuses on addressing emotional and psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems. Counselors help clients understand and manage their feelings, behaviors, and thought patterns. Counseling looks at both the past and present to understand the root causes of issues. Counselors use therapeutic methods to help clients process emotions and develop coping strategies.
Both coaching and consulting services play valuable roles in personal development and mental health, but they serve distinct purposes and are suited to different types of needs.
The first step is to accessing our mental health counseling, coaching and consulting services would be to schedule a free discovery session with no obligation. In that session, we will get an idea of what services will best meet your needs. Following the discovery session we will send a follow-up email with a recommendation of service. Our recommendation is simply a suggestion of how to spend our time together based on the consultation.
